HAMAC recently delivered one unit of HMC400 self-loading concrete mixer to a Peruvian contractor who is focusing on rural infrastructure and small building projects. In many remote areas of Peru, there is no fixed concrete batching plant and the cost of ordering ready-mix concrete from the city is very high, so contractors need a compact and flexible machine that can produce concrete directly on site. The HMC400, with its 4.0 m³ drum and self-loading design, allows the operator to load aggregates with the front bucket, add water and admixtures, mix the concrete and discharge it to the forms without relying on additional equipment.

For this order, the HMC400 self-loading mixer was configured with a 4.0 m³ mixing drum, a fuel-efficient diesel engine, four-wheel drive and a closed cabin, so that the operator can work comfortably in dusty or rainy conditions. The machine is equipped with a front bucket for loading sand and aggregates, an onboard water tank and a weighing system to control the mix ratio, which helps the contractor achieve more consistent concrete quality compared with traditional small drum mixers and manual loading. Before shipment, HAMAC technicians carried out a complete inspection of hydraulic systems, drive train, steering, braking and drum rotation, and performed trial mixing to ensure that the HMC400 would be ready for immediate use after arriving in Peru.

After final testing, the HMC400 was driven out of the assembly workshop and parked in the loading area, where it was carefully fixed on a transport truck using chains, straps and wooden blocks to prevent any movement during transport. The machine was then transported to the loading port and scheduled to be shipped by Ro-Ro (roll-on/roll-off) vessel, which is a safe and efficient way to transport self-propelled construction machines such as self-loading mixers, wheel loaders and excavators. With this logistics arrangement, the entire journey from HAMAC factory to the Peruvian port can be completed in a relatively short time, reducing the risk of damage and allowing the customer to receive the machine according to their project schedule.

Once the HMC400 arrives in Peru, the contractor plans to use it on several types of projects, including village road slabs, small bridges, farmyards and foundations for houses and warehouses in rural areas. Thanks to its compact size and strong off-road capability, the self-loading mixer can travel on narrow and uneven rural roads, reach job sites where conventional transit mixer trucks cannot go, and produce fresh concrete just a few meters away from the pouring location. This reduces the dependence on external ready-mix suppliers, shortens the time between mixing and pouring, and helps improve the overall durability of the finished structures.

By using one HMC400 instead of a combination of a wheel loader plus a separate drum mixer, the contractor can significantly reduce labour demand on site, because one operator and one helper can handle loading, mixing and pouring for most small and medium pours. The integrated weighing and water dosing system makes it easier to keep the same mix proportions from batch to batch, which is particularly important when different projects require different concrete strengths or slump levels.
